La Sabla® 50 years

With the Sabla 50 years we pay tribute to the first wine produced in the historic cellars of the Charrère house, by Constantine’s father and then first of all vinified in 1970 by Constantine, just as a tribute to his father.

It was born as a typical red, vinified with the best of what the vineyard could give. To celebrate its anniversary, from our very best vineyards, a limited production of La Sabla 50 years old is born today, featuring a blend of Petit Rouge, Fumin, Syrah and Merlot and a part of dried Fumin vinified in wood. Its long aging (2 years in wood and 2 in steel) allows the full expression of the potential of this extremely versatile blend.

Vineyard

  • Vineyard Area about 1.5 ha, Guyot system; planting 7,500 ft. per hectare, retracted rows. Yield 60,000 kg/ha.

  • Type of land Moraine, loose, sandy soil on a slope with southern and eastern exposure.

Production process

  • Vinification De-stemming and fermentation of grapes separately for 13 days at controlled temperature
  • Aging For fumin passito fermentation in wood. subsequent aging of 1 year in oak barrels. Further aging of 1 year after blending in oak barrels. 1 year aging in steel.
  • Bottle aging 24 months
  • Total acidity 6 g/L
  • pH 3.3
  • Net dry extract Alcohol 15 % vol.

Tasting Notes

  • Deep ruby. Ripe fruit on the nose with notes of jam, cocoa and balsamic appeal. On the palate consistent, intense , with great concentration and persistence. Velvety tannins.

Recommended pairings

  • Juniper boar with blueberry reduction, venison salami, Bleu d’Aoste risotto with crispy speck zest.
