Torrette

D.O.P

Torrette is the largest area D.O.C. in the Aosta Valley, from which the wine of the same name is made. Vinified with a base mainly of Petit Rouge (an indigenous variety), it is the most widely and traditionally consumed native wine in the region.

Vineyard

  • Vineyard Area about 2.0 ha, Guyot system; planting 7,500 feet per hectare, cordon and retouch rows. Yield 8,000 kg/ha.
  • Altitude Altitude 500/750 meters above sea level.
  • Type of land Moraine, loose, sandy soil on steep slope with southern, northern, eastern and western exposure.

Production process

  • Vinification Chilled grape destemming, 12-day fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature (26°C), with daily pumping over.
  • Aging In stainless steel for 6 months
  • Bottle aging 2 months
  • Total acidity 5.5 g/L
  • pH 3.4
  • Net dry extract Alcohol 14 % vol.

Tasting Notes

  • Ruby with violet hues. Delicate, elegant nose with notes of violets and wilted roses. Balanced, fresh and fruity in the mouth, it re-presents the olfactory notes with subtle acidulous and mineral vein.

Recommended pairings

  • Traditionally eaten in the Aosta Valley with the entire meal.
